The Official Way to Unlock an iPhone without Secret Passcode
I’m going to show you Apple’s recommended way to unlock your iPhone 13/12/11/XS/8/7 without secret password.
STEP 1Turn Off Your iPhone
- For iPhone 8 or later: Press and hold both the Volume down button and the Side button until the power off slider appears.
- For iPhone 7: Press and hold the Side button until the power off slider shows up.
- For iPhone SE (1st Gen) and earlier: Press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the power off slider shows up.
STEP 2Put Your iPhone into Recovery Mode
Press and hold the correct button while immediately connecting your iPhone to the computer.
Keep holding the button until you see the recovery mode screen then release the button.
For the correct button:
- iPhone 8 or later: Side button
- iPhone 7: Volume down button
- iPhone SE (1st Gen) and earlier: Home button
STEP 3Restore Your iPhone
Open Finder or iTunes on your computer. Click on Restore. Your computer will start to download the firmware package for your iPhone.
